I am thinking of becoming a travel agent on the side and am wondering if there are any AZ members here who can answer some questions.

does AZ require any licensing?
does AZ require E&O insurance? what company do you use for it, if so?
Anything else I should know about becoming an agent in AZ?

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

I did a quick review of Arizona statutes and I find no requirement for registration for travel agents.  Also the travel law website shows no requirement for registration [see http://travellaw.com/web/faq1.html#basic1].  I checked the Arizona statutes since I don't know if the Travel Law website is up to date.  My disclaimer is that I'm not an Arizona lawyer so consult an Arizona lawyer to get the best opinion on this matter.

There are no requirements for travel agent E&O insurance.  However, having E&O insurance is a good idea if you are selling a lot of travel.  This protects you when you make a big mistake on someone's honeymoon, etc.  The big insurer for travel E&O is the Berkely Group.

The only other item I can think of is to check your local ordinances about running a business from your home.

Best of business,
Barry

thanks so much for taking the time to look at that information for me. I really appreciate it. as for working out of home, I will (if I do this) would talk with the big man here at work (I work at small family owned company - father and two of his four sons, me and a sales person-Im like family as they are who I worked for in ROchester and asked me to come join thier company here) and would setup my business using this address or maybe even part of the company.

Thanks again for taking the time out of all your various work (day, travel and Raw Voice stuff)

Mike
